drumpaintingLarry is having a very exciting and busy 2007.  Gigging & recording in NYC, tours with artists and giving clinics, designing and developing new equipment and products with his favorite manufacturers, all along with coaching the many up & coming drummers who come through NYC on a visit or have recently moved here, Larry manages a way to juggle it all and loves every moment of it.

Playing-wise; He is keeping busy between Broadway shows by covering for his friends at such Tony Award Winning shows such as Spamalot, Mary Poppins, and 110 In The Shade, as well as Mel Brooks' new show which will be coming to Broadway later this year... Young Frankenstein.  Larry will also be going into the studio at the end of the year to record the second album for HOLDING BACK ENTIRELY, his original indie rock band.

Starting in the December 2007 issue,  MODERN DRUMMER MAGAZINE will be publishing a 2 part series of articles that Larry wrote based around performing as a show drummer.  These will include information on skills required, tricks of the trade, and technique and equipment tips that all drummers should know when seeking or accepting these kind of gigs.  Make sure you pick up the January issue as well for part 2 of the series!

In the studio, Larry just recorded a new album for singer/songwriter Mary Gatchell which should be out by the end of the year.  (pics from the sessions should be up soon he hopes!)  He also put the finishing touches on the soundtrack for "THE PRODUCERS" movie, which was recently released on DVD by Universal.  (Larry played percussion! Guess all those years of playing timpani & marimba in college have really paid off!)
Additionally, Larry can be heard pounding the skins on recent studio releases from TIDE (self titled debut) and Dan Strauss (titled Rocking Chair).

Last but not least, Larry was recently a featured drumset artist at PASIC, and gave a masterclass on being a successful Broadway and freelance musician in NYC. The session drew hundreds of attendees all eager to hear about Larry's experiences, gear choices and tips on how to make a living playing music. The response was so positive that Larry has been asked to present this session at other festivals and schools. And this fall, he will embark on a 2 week clinic tour throughout Japan and he is VERY much looking forward to that!  Anyone who knows Larry, knows he loves visiting Japan!  Larry has spent much time touring Japan with The Mamas & The Papas and has made many friends there.  Plus, he also loves to visit some of his favorite people who make the best drums in the world, and of course all of Larry's beloved drums as well... the highly skilled people at Yamaha Drums.
